Yoga Workout - Work it out

It’s human nature to go higher, faster and stronger. He has been in competition with the forces of nature and with each other for survival, territory and in extreme cases self-preservation. Since then man has been trying to tone their bodies and become the perfect specimen of strength and health. In the course of evolution of man’s society people from different countries have discovered ways to achieve the perfect body. Some of them work, others caused dangerous side effects.

Ancient Indian yogis realized one of the oldest and still practiced ancient disciplines. Yoga is the intrinsic conditioning of a person’s organic health. Aside from the physical conditioning of a person’s body science has proven that organic health is also a must to have excellent health. Modern science has proven that the ancient yoga discipline substantiates organic health.

The yogic Asanas accelerate the flow of blood in the body and the Pranayama bring down the carbon dioxide content in the body to ensure sound health.

There are different ways to go with the yoga workout. They range from basic yoga poses and exercises, to the more challenging and advanced meditation and spiritual cleansing. Unlike normal workouts where the part of the body is exposed to constant and forceful usage, yoga is more focused on the strengthening through maintenance. Holding a yoga pose is far more challenging than forcefully filling your lungs with air and holding your breath as long as you can. Science has discovered that this way of muscle training breeds long term effects on the person, effects that are not apparent at first but because of constant repetition wears out the muscle or the organ.

Yoga exercises vary in form. There are special workouts that focus on a part of the body and each pose targets that specific body part or organ. These yoga poses vary from the cleansing of the nose (neti), stomach washing (dhouti), cleansing of the alimentary canal (basti) and the cleansing of the intestines, bladder and the sexual organs (vajroli).

Some the basic yoga workouts are Ashtanga yoga or vigorous yoga. The poses and workouts in this type of yoga focus on the flexibility, strength, concentration and stamina of a person. When doing Ashtanga a person moves from pose to pose very rapidly but concentrates on deep breathing.

Power yoga is very similar to Ashtanga and mostly popular in the United States. This type of yoga workout concentrates on flexibility and stamina, but unlike the Ashtanga concentration on deep breathing is not very particular.

Bikram yoga or hot yoga is practiced in a room that is preheated up to 100 degrees Fahrrenheit. Hence its name.

Gentle yoga is also very popular in the US. This type of yoga focuses on stretching, flexibility and deep breathing.

Kundalini yoga uses poses, deep breathing. This kind of yoga workout also employs the use of breathing techniques, chanting and meditation.

Iyengar yoga focuses on the precision of the poses. Participants of this type of yoga use a variety of props like benches, ropes, mats, blocks, chairs to achieve the yoga poses that the workout requires.

The workouts and the poses in yoga have been specifically toned to zero in on the body, the lungs and the mind. Yoga employs deep breathing to workout the lungs and concentration on a pose to give a person the power of clear thinking.
