Dancing to the Beat of Yoga
Yoga is usually known for its slow movements and lots of stretches. That is all about to change when two people namely Gillian Marloth and Teigh McDonough have found a way to make it upbeat and fun. This new exercise which is a combination of aerobics, ballet for strength and toning and yoga for flexibility is called the Yoga Booty Ballet.
Aside from the workout, these two individuals have conceived and created a SWERVE. This is a gym found in Los Angeles, California that is committed to making people stay fit with a positive and loving approach.
Compared to other instructional videos that have hit the market such as Tae Bo or Pilates, this program is designed to exercise every part of the body through fast and slow movement combined with breathing.
The 90 minute workout goes into different segments. With its upbeat music playing in the background, warm up involves moving the hands and feet to the beat with some stretches in the end.
When that is done, the first segment of the exercise begins with a little ballet. For those who have taken ballet as a child, the basic steps are similar. Each leg is lifted leaving the other one on the ground for balance and after a few reps, this is also done in the other leg. A little squatting is also involved to stretch each leg.
The next segment is all about strength. To those who have not done this before, the person can do this portion without using any weights. The arms should be raised either in front or to the sides whenever the individual squats to exercise the upper muscles in the body.
After strength training comes yoga. The individual starts in one position then stretches further while controlling the breathing. This is to make sure all the muscles in the body are able to receive the right amount of oxygen and to give time for the people to rest.
When the group has rested, the next part involves exercising the abs. This is done using a weighted ball placed between the legs. Crunches can be done to strengthen the muscles in the abdomen.
The last part of the exercise goes back to yoga. This cool down portion involves a few rolls, then after bending over ends with the person standing. A basic program like this is the best way to learn about what this program can offer. If the person likes it, there are other volumes and a variety of workouts in the succeeding volumes.
Yoga Booty Ballet is truly something different. It combines different disciplines to give people something new to work at. Before trying this, the person should first consult the doctor if it is safe to do so.
This exercise can do two things. The first is to tone the muscles. The other is to lose weight. By combining it with a proper diet, the individual will soon feel some changes in just 2 weeks. The number of pounds lost may vary from one person to another.
Yoga Booty Ballet can be seen on television. Calling the cable operator or looking at the TV guide will inform the individual what channel it is on. For those who don’t have the time to watch it because of work or other activities, a copy can be bought via the internet.
This comes in different volumes that cater to beginners and people in the advanced level.
